The Regimental Associations Standard Appears In Sapper Magazine
On Friday 4th October2024, the town of Ashbourne came together to bid a final farewell to one of its most
cherished residents, Donald (Don) Sheppard.
Don a friend of Bill Stanley our Regmental Association Standard Bearer, was a veteran Royal Engineer who landed on Juno
Beach during D-Day.
Don died at the age of 104, leaving behind a legacy of courage, humility and dedication that spanned generations. The funeral was held at St Mary's church.
77 Field Squadron, 28 Engineer Regiment(CBRN) had the honour of laying the WW2 veteran to rest and provided the pallbearers and guard of honour.
Bill Stanley attended the funeral with our Association standard to pay his respects and in pictured above in the RE representatives.
