March London Beer Bimble

16th March 2013

On Saturday 16th March members and friends of the 101 Association, went on a London Beer Bimble.

The day started early with a meet, beer and breakfast in the Weatherspoons pub on Victoria Station.

The party left Victoria at 10:00am and walked in the direction of Buckingham Palace. Upon reaching the palace a quick photo stop was made before walking down the Mall in the direction of Admiralty Arch.

As we approached the end of the mall we encountered a troop of the Household Cavalry changing guard and walking back towards Hyde Park barracks.

We walked across horse guards and over to the Cabinet War rooms musuem.

We spent around an hour and a half walking around the Cabinet War Rooms complex and in the new annex Winston Churchhill Musuem.

After leaving the Cabinet War rooms we walked between the HM Treasury and Foreign Offices to emerge on Whitehall at the Cenotaph.

We turned left onto Whitehall and walked towards Trafalgar Square, walking past the Cabinet Office, Downing Street and the Whitehall entrance to Hourse Guards where more members photos' of the Household Cavalry were taken. We then crossed the road and had a pub lunch at the Trafalgar Square end if Whitehall.

Whilst sitting in the pub window having lunch and watching the world go by we were treated to the sights of a stag group with the groom dressed as a penis,
and a Syria Freedom Fighter Support Demonstration.

After lunch we walked east down the Strand and stopped in the Lyceum pub for a beer. We continued east along the Strand and visited the Central Church of the Royal Air Force,St Clement Danes. The church was closed but we had a good look around it. Further pictures were taken with the statues of Dowding (Fighter Command) and Harris (Bomber Command).

We proceeded, past Aldwich and into the west end of Fleet Street. We stopped for a further beer in the George opposite the Royal Courts of Justice (High Court).

After the George we proceeded to Borough Market, walked past Southwark Cathedral and through the market (Food and Drink heaven).

Further beers and shots were consumed in The Globe, before a final drink in the Brew House which is owned by the MeanTime Brewery.

Five people attended; Graham Plumridge, Brian Green and partner Debbie, Dave and Tracey Bird. It would be good to see more members and friends at the next event they are organised for the members by the members.

A full set of pictures taken on the Bimble can be found in the Photo Gallery.
