Steve was a former Commanding Officer of 101 Engineer Regiment (EOD&S)
Lt Col Squibb served for decades in the Royal Engineers (Territorial Army), earning the Territorial Decoration (TD) in recognition of his long and meritorious commissioned service.

During his tenure at the helm of the regiment—the UK reserve forces' dedicated bomb disposal unit—he oversaw the restructuring, development, and operational readiness of several specialist sub-units, including the consolidation of headquarters and operational squadrons across London and the South East (such as 223 Headquarters Squadron and the Catford-based units).

His period of command coincided with a transitional era for the Reserve Forces following the Strategic Defence Review, where reserve EOD personnel were increasingly prepared for enhanced integration with regular counter-explosive and engineer assets.

Lt Col Squibb completed his tenure as Commanding Officer in late 2003 / early 2004, formally retiring from the active Army list on 16 February 2004. Following his retirement from command, he relocated to Canada. He passed away in subsequent years
